The ICAEW Software accreditation & marketing scheme

The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) provides a software product accreditation scheme for commercial software companies.

HOW CAN YOU BENEFIT?

The scheme gives a competitive edge to the software of participating companies, as well as extensive benefits from its marketing support package.

There are seven types of software currently included:

  • Financial (commercial accounting packages for businesses of all sizes)

  • Fixed asset management

  • eCommerce

  • Accounts production (e.g. as used in accounting practices to produce clients’ annual accounts)

  • Electronic document & records management

  • Practice management (professional practices)

  • Tax.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The accreditation process involves an evaluation of the software’s capabilities by an independent evaluator, followed by review and independent assessment by the accountancy firm Baker Tilly.

There are currently 8 general evaluators and 3 tax evaluators providing independent evaluation services to software companies under the ICAEW scheme, including Morchard Bishop & Co (which offers both general and tax software evaluation services).

WHICH SOFTWARE IS INCLUDED ALREADY?

The companies who have already participated in this scheme and are enjoying the benefits of accreditation are listed on the ICAEW website.
